Singapore Exchange announces new Regs
Changes meant to encourage more IPOs making Singapore #1 market in Asia, outside of Japan
In a move to attract increased initial public offerings, the Singapore Exchange announced its third and most set of rules changes in 10 months.
 
The move by Singapore comes as Hong Kong plans to take similar action, to be announced Wednesday.
 
The Singapore Exchange(SGX) will now accept listings from firms which follow US accounting standards, which will make it easier to have companies listed on the Singapore Exchange be listed on the Nasdaq or New York Stock Exchange.
 
SGX adopted the disclosure standards of the International Organization of Securities Commission, aimed at cross-border and foreign listings.
 
In an attempt to obtain more bond and debt security listings, SGX will allow the listing of Singapore-dollar and foreign debts as long as they are fully subscribed.
 
Amongst other changes announced are: the reduction of listing and annual fees, streamlining of documentation and bringing the requirements for secondary listings in line with
those of primary listings.
